Tell us here whether you'll attend the big show next week, and why or why not. Don't forget you have to register first; create a user name via the Register tab at upper right.

The large broadcast/multi-media company I work for is only sending a few engineers from corporate, so I'm actually paying for the trip myself and using vacation.

I consider the show one of my best continuing education classes through the discussions and meeting manufacturer reps and engineers.  I also sometimes make some business contacts for my voice-over work.

Last year's show was, to me, a real bust.  I (in my "engineer capacity") went to one of the largest manufacturer's booth (N Hall) four times trying to get info on their gear and had no success in getting someone who seemed to care (this was both Tue and Wed and the booth was not very busy).  Unfortunately for them, I changed jobs and had nearly $3M to spend.  Though I COULD have used a LOT of their gear, the total value spent on this manufacturer was only three pieces of test gear (about $39k).

I miss the N Hall being just radio, but understand why the NAB made the change.

I don't like how the NAB claims "best show/biggest attendance ever", when last year was a ghost town compared to past years (in my opinion).

Still, I look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones at the show!
