Katz Dies in Crash

Lewis Katz, co-owner of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Daily News and philly.com, as well as a partner in Longport Media, has died.

He was among the seven people killed in a crash of a private jet late Saturday in Massachusetts, according to a report at philly.com. He was 72 at the time of his death.

The plane crashed in woods in Bedford, Mass., said Sharon Williams, director of Hanscom Field airport.

Via Chairman Paul Rotella, the New Jersey Broadcasters Association said they send their “heartfelt condolences to Mr. Katz’s family, colleagues and friends, as well as to his extended family at WOND(AM), WMGM(FM), WTKU(FM), WWAC(FM) and WBSS(FM), and especially to our incoming Chairman, Dave Coskey, who heads up this important NJBA member station group.”
