CBS Radio Washington Moves Wizards

CBS Radio Washington has moved its Washington Wizards basketball broadcasts from its WJFK(FM) “The Fan” sports station to its WNEW(FM) news station for the upcoming season.

No particular reason was given, though airing of the games of the Wizards and the Washington Capitals hockey team on WJFK, which carries both, occasionally conflicted, since the NBA and the NHL seasons overlap.

CBS Radio Washington Senior Vice President and Market Manager Steve Swenson said, “Our stations are proud supporters of D.C.’s sports teams and WNEW is no exception. We’re thrilled to offer loyal fans a broad range of options to engage with the Wizards on game day and beyond.”

The announcement said that the current broadcast team of play-by-play man Dave Johnson, who’s also a sports reporter for rival Washington newser WTOP(FM), and analyst Glenn Consor, will continue with the broadcasts.
