As a broadcast veteran since the early ‘60s, I’ve always watched with interest
any time our industry is portrayed in other media, and I remember most of the
TV shows cited by Winzenburg.
One program that
should have been included is “Remember WENN,” a skillfully crafted, thoroughly
entertaining original series carried on cable’s American Movie Classics from
January 1996 to September 1998.
was the brainchild of Rupert Holmes; it was set in Pittsburgh at fictional
radio station WENN just before World War II. There are several websites dedicated
to the show and many — perhaps all 56 — of the episodes are available for
viewing on the Web.
