QNX and Pandora Team to Bring Internet Radio to the Car

QNX Software Systems, which provides operating systems to automakers, said recently it will support Pandora Internet radio.

Pandora becomes the newest company to contribute to the QNX Car program, one that Pandora says provides automakers and their suppliers with pre-integrated software and hardware technologies to help speed up the prototype process and reduce engineering costs.

At Telematics Detroit 2009, QNX demoed an infotainment system with integrated Pandora support. The companies said by adding Pandora to the QNX Car program, automakers will help drivers and passengers enjoy the same personalized radio experience on the road that they now enjoy at home or at work.

Launched in February, the QNX Car program helps automakers deliver software updates and new features to new cars. The software includes integrations with consumer media devices, Bluetooth, content management, Pandora Internet radio, and other third-party technologies.
