Aruba Launches Alert FM App

The Caribbean island nation of Aruba has deployed the Google Android version of Global Security Systems and Weather Decision TechnologiesAlert FM app as a part of the country’s revamped first responder notification system.

The companies worked jointly to provide the Aruban government with an end-to-end smartphone-based communication system.

“WDT’s mobile development skills and our message origination capabilities allowed us to expand our joint technology into the Caribbean,” said Matthew Straeb, GSS Executive Vice President.

As part of the pilot project, the app has been provided to 75 first responders for use on Samsung GT-S5690L smartphones.

Emergency officials have also been trained to send a message via the Alert Studio message origination software, which enables administrators to create and send a message directly to Alert FM.

“The Alert FM app-based notification system will provide a much needed communication tool for our fire, police and other emergency personnel,” said Jaime Donata, director of the Aruban Crisis Management Office.

Global Security Systems is a systems integrator, service provider and manufacturer of the Alert FM, Alert Studio and GSSNet satellite data delivery system. GSS has participated in the development of IPAWS-based systems and is a member of the Commercial Mobile Alert Service systems committee.

Weather Decision Technologies provides life-safety applications and weather decision support services and systems.
