AWMF Announces Gracie National Award Winners

Alliance for Women in Media Foundation has announced the 2014 national winners of the 39th Annual Gracie Awards, which will be presented at a black-tie gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on May 20.

The Gracies recognize “exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women,” as well as individuals who have made contributions to the industry. The program also encourages realistic and multifaceted portrayal of women in the media.

“The Gracie Awards recognize women who have created inspiring, intelligent and innovative media,” said 2014 AWMF Chair Kay Olin. “The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation’s signature event is a wonderful celebration of the important contributions women make to all areas of the media industry.”


The recipients who are recognized for their radio work are:

  •    Outstanding Soft News Feature
       CBS Radio News

  • “Born in the USA: Instant Citizenship on Saipan”
  •    Outstanding Investigative Program or Feature
       Radio Free Asia

  • “I Am Malala”
  •    Outstanding Interview Program or Feature
       The Current, CBC Radio One

  • Julia Cunningham
  •    Outstanding Host — Entertainment/Information
       Sirius XM Satellite Radio

  • Julie Mason
  •    Outstanding Host — News/Nonfiction
       Sirius XM Satellite Radio

  • “One School, One Year”
  •    Outstanding Series
       Marketplace (American Public Media)

  • Sheri Lynch, “Chit Chat’s Bedtime Story”
  •    Outstanding Talk Show — Entertainment/Information
       Greater Media Charlotte

    The Gracies are presented by the AWM Foundation, the philanthropic arm of AWM which supports educational programs, charitable activities, public service campaigns and scholarships to benefit the public and women in the media.

    The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Tables for the Gracie Awards range from $10,000 to $50,000.
