Boost Mobile to Include NextRadio App
Boost Mobile, part of the Sprint Network, has debuted a smartphone that comes loaded with the NextRadio app.
The Moto G will be available to consumers on Jan. 14 at www.boostmobile.com and some brick-and-mortar stores like BestBuy, RadioShack, Target, Walgreens, Walmart and Sprint retail locations on Jan. 20.
The wireless company is emphasizing the power savings angle, telling consumers that when compared with streaming, NextRadio consumes about three times less battery life than other music apps because audio is coming through the built-in FM tuner instead of over the Internet.
The Moto G carries no annual contract and features a 4.5-inch HD screen made with Corning’s Gorilia Glass, a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon core processor and a 5 megapixel camera with panoramic and continuous shots. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery, claims the company, lasts all day.
Other marketing features: The phone has a water-repellent coating and customers can choose from several interchangeable backs from Motorola. In addition, buyers get an extra 50 GB of Google Drive storage for two years and, as with other Android devices, Moto G owners have access to a million apps and content in the Google Play Store. The Moto G lists for $129.99.
