Chicago Stations Unite on Gun Violence

This year the Windy City has been awash in street violence as a result Chicago area urban-oriented stations, Clear Channel’s WGCI(FM), WSRB(FM), Crawford Broadcasting’s WPWX(FM), WVAZ(FM) and Midway Broadcasting’s WVON(AM) are getting together for a Sunday night simulcast, “Put the Guns Down.”

This is third simulcast on the topic — “to address the citywide violence prevention initiative, ‘Put the Guns Down.’” It will air 7–9 p.m.

A release says, “This commercial free radio broadcast will feature a talent from each of the participating stations: Tony Sculfield of 107.5 WGCI(FM), Sean Dale of Power 92.3 [WPWX], Alexx Dupri of Soul 106.3[WSRB], Glenn Cosby of V103 [WVAZ] and Matt McGill of WVON(AM) 1690. ABC 7’s Evelyn Holmes will once again join the group and host this special.”

Put it down? The Chicago way is to create a free fire zone. The politicians give their blessing to this violence. "Take your stuff away to the alley." Mayor Rahm Emanuel, giving Chicago gang members the green light to murder each other. If Chicago wants to stop violence, they need new politicians who stop it instead of blessing it.
