Clear Channel Keeps Label Momentum Going With Dualtone
It’s two deals with independent music labels in one week for Clear Channel.
The broadcaster has signed an agreement with Dualtone Music Group to enable the label’s artists to share a portion of the revenue from Clear Channel’s broadcast and digital radio, presumably in exchange for favorable music royalty rates.
Clear Channel CEO Bob Pittman says Dualtone’s business philosophy is focused on the long term, so the label understands the broadcaster is trying to move the digital radio industry toward a more sustainable commerce model for the future.
The Nashville-based Dualtone specializes in roots rock and indie rock artists. Company founder and CEO Scott Robinson says the label will do whatever it can to help ensure a vibrant future for Internet radio as well as recognizing the importance of broadcast radio.
This is the second such deal in a week for Clear Channel, which signed a deal with Fearless Records earlier in the week. The broadcaster now has a total of 10 agreements with record labels.
