The DR Belux digital radio association is conducting comparative tests of DAB, DAB+ and DMB transmissions from a single multiplex.

"Given the growing number of standards recognized by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), it is hard to assess the real capacities within the DAB family," said DR Belux President Jean-Jacques Deleeuw.

DR Belux is an association of private broadcasters in Belgium and Luxembourg exploring digital radio options. Sister organization DR France welcomed the initiative and intends to take part in the tests.

According to DR Belux, the tests — and the visibility of its results — will enable all those involved in digital radio to get a clearer idea of the digital future.
