Emmis Urges Stations to Sign Up for Smartphone Station Logo

With the anticipated launch of FM-enabled smartphones with NextRadio in the marketplace, Emmis Communications Corp. is offering stations a free way to integrate their facilities with TagStation, the cloud-based engine that supplies data for the NextRadio smartphone application.

With the TagStation Free Logo Service, a station is able to upload a branding image that will display as default artwork in the NextRadio app as well as call letters, format, station name and slogan. Though every radio station within range of the smartphone’s FM receiver will be represented based on current FCC database lists, this basic level of station integration creates a compelling experience within the app as the user is able to quickly associate their local stations with familiar visuals while browsing, the company says.

Emmis encouraged broadcasters at the 2013 NAB Show to stop by booth #C955 for a live demo of TagStation and the NextRadio smartphone app. On-the-spot sign-ups for the TagStation Free Logo Service for NextRadio will be available.
