Epson Video Features Silliman and the Pru

How would you go about shooting a great photograph of someone working atop a broadcast tower?

How would you then go about shooting a great photo of the person taking that picture?

To get an idea, check out a video from Epson, which makes photographic printers. The company ran a campaign called “Finish Strong” in which it invited ideas for dramatic photos; the winner, Josh Lohmeyer of Maryland, suggested a picture taken in a high, hard-to-access place.

Photographer Joe McNally executed the shoot atop Boston’s Prudential Tower, using a familiar subject, veteran tower climber Tom Silliman, president and CEO of ERI, who has appeared in high-altitude images by McNally before. The result is shown here.

Epson has posted the video below about the shoot, providing great closeups of the Pru’s RF infrastructure as well as an idea of the vertiginous sensations involved.
