First RAIN Summit Europe Held in Berlin
     

The RAIN Summit Europe conference was held Oct. 5 in Berlin, Germany. The event was sponsored by the Radio and Internet Newspaper’s as its premiere European event.

Held at the nhow Berlin hotel, described as a music and lifestyle hotel, the one-day event catered to broadcast radio executives, Internet radio entrepreneurs, as well as sales and technology managers.

The schedule included panels and presentations on the technical, legal and strategic aspects of the business, as well as programming expertise. Discussion topics ranged from the availability of tools to help quantify streaming audio audiences to how to effectively monetize digital audio to targeting audiences and options for radio personalization and advertising, among other subjects. Panelists represented all sectors of the Internet radio industry and spanned companies in the United States and Europe, including Peter Burgner of BMW Group, Alison Fennah of IAB Europe, Zachary Lewis of Liquid Compass and Patrick Roger of AdsWizz.

Keynote addresses were given by Kurt Hanson, RAIN’s publisher, who spoke about the “State of the Industry,” and Spotify’s General Manager Europe and Vice President of Ad Sales Jonathan Forster.

The RAIN Summit also provided networking opportunities during scheduled breaks, a lunch and a cocktail hour designed to allow individuals to casually learn from each other.
