People who depend on audio should have their hearing checked regularly

Attendees at this week’s NAMM show in Anaheim, Calif. have the opportunity to get their hearing tested free of charge by a group dedicated to hearing health, the House Research Institute.

The HRI booth will open early at 9:30 a.m. each day (show vets know to avoid Saturday because of the local crowd influx). Appointments will be arranged on a first-come, first-served basis.

Marilee Potthoff, director of Community Education and Outreach for HRI said, “Noise induced hearing loss is a major health problem in the sound industry, and can be completely avoided.”

They’ll also give away free ear plugs. The NAMM show runs through Jan. 22.
