IHeartRadio, HD Radio Part of Subaru’s Updated Starlink

Subaru Starlink

Subaru and Clarion updated the automaker’s Starlink Infotainment System, and are debuting it on 2015 model year Legacy and Outback vehicles.

Using either an Apple iPhone iOS or Android smartphone, Subaru Starlink users connect their device to the head unit display via Bluetooth or USB and then access apps and services.

Subaru of America President Thomas Doll calls the updated Starlink “a highly-accessible driving companion” right in driver’s dashboards. “This gateway to the Internet will effortlessly and automatically push relevant data directly where it is needed most.”

The updated platform debuts with iHeartRadio, Pandora, Stitcher Radio, Aha, AM/FM and HD Radio. The Starlink app also pushes content like a calendar, news, and other applications to the car. These new capabilities debut on 2015 Legacy and Outback models, but will be coming to our other models soon, says Subaru.

Notably, the OEM says additional apps and services will be made available in the future without requiring vehicle software updates. The Subaru Starlink App is available as a free download from Google Play and iTunes app stores.

Starlink features 36 mixed AM/FM/SiriusXM radio presets that enable users to access the station they want with a swipe of the touchscreen. The updated infotainment system also features a single-disc CD player, RDS, iPod control and iTunes Tagging capabilities, USB port, auxiliary input jack, four speakers and a rear glass audio antenna.

Clarion Corp. of America President Paul Lachner says the company has been “relentlessly” updating its connectivity platform and customizing it for Subaru to assure “reliability, safety and distraction-free operation of the system while driving.”
