IMDA Holds Conference at International CES

The Internet Media Device Alliance is holding a one-day conference concurrent to the International CES next month in Las Vegas, Jan. 10, 2013 at the Embassy Suites Convention Center Hotel. The theme of the conference will be IMDA standards for Internet radio in the car.

Highlight of the conference will be Roger Lanctot, associate director Global Automotive Practice for the market research firm, Strategy Analytics. He will provide a “comprehensive view of the evolving audio experience in the car and the changing nature of radio delivery and consumption and what it means for business models and system design.”

Joey Grover of Livio will also speak on the need to bring industry standards to the audio interfaces used in the new generation of automobiles. Too often consumers need to learn the system each time they step into a different brand of car, he says.

Also on the agenda is the recently finalized IMDA Automotive Device Profile, the corresponding Broadcaster Guidelines and IMDA Service Identification along with the introduction of joint developments with RadioDNS.

The IMDA represents a number of developers and other companies interested in promoting the interconnectivity of Internet-based devices.
