Missouri AG Sues Sirius XM Over Sales Calls

In Missouri, Attorney General Chris Koster has obtained a temporary restraining order against Sirius XM Radio, alleging the satcaster has been making calls soliciting satellite radio subscriptions to Missourians who had put their names on the state’s no-call list.
Koster announced his office filed a lawsuit against Sirius XM because of “numerous complaints” filed with the No-Call Division of the Attorney General’s Office.
Koster also is seeking a civil penalty of $5,000 for each violation of Missouri law, costs of the investigation and prosecution and all court costs.
“When Missourians register with our No-Call list, they do so with the reasonable expectation that they will not receive these unsolicited, harassing calls,” Koster stated.
Under the temporary restraining order, Sirius may still call existing customers, unless that person tells Sirius to stop the calls.
