NAB Sneak Peek: CEntrance Debuts the MixerFace

A few years ago a company like CEntrance would never have come to the NAB Show. Now, more of the smartphone app and hardware peddlers are in Las Vegas. And they are welcomed, especially by news and ENG professionals.

The rechargeable battery-powered MixerFace is a rather simple product with a simple mission — get high-quality audio into an iPhone or iPad. It does this by packing “boutique” preamps and 24-bit/192 kHz converters into its aluminum box.

Neutrik combo jacks provide inputs for mics (48 V phantom power) or musical instruments. Dual level controls, onboard limiters, USB digital outputs and 1/4-inch headphone output are also provided. MixerFace can also be connected to a tablet or a laptop, according to the company.

MixerFace is working on a workaround for Android devices. It will be available for sale in May.
