We can not turn the Medium Wave "AM" band into a digital band. I think that we would have great success if we moved the "AM" stations that do not have at least 5,000 watts at night to a new VHF DRM digital band where they would be freed from interference and noise and would be able to gain a loyal audience. A new band can have success where a conversion of a current band can not have even a hope of success. MP2 is vastly inferior to MP3 and MP3 is noticeably inferior to AAC so we should not make the mistake of using an obsolete codec. FM was not popular for the first twenty years of its existence but now it is very popular. The same popularity can be enjoyed by VHF DRM digital if we simply get a chance to have it.
