Netia said its Radio-Assist range of digital audio software programs is being used to launch a radio project within the South Kivu region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Radio Concordia was established to provide religious programming for the South Kivu region while raising the profile of the area's poor, it stated. The Rev. Jean-Paul Bahati is a Catholic priest in the DRC's Bukavu Archdiocese and to the Radio Concordia project. He said the system will be used to create and broadcast educational programs.

Why would consumers choose to stream radio stations, with already chosen formats that cannot be personalized, as with Pandora, Slack, Las.fm, etc? Last.fm also allows "social networking" of music, things that terrestrial radio will never be able to offer. You're dreaming. Consumer interest in these "personalized" music services has exploded. Slacker now has a portable radio that can be refreshed through WiFi hotspots, truely an iPod killer. Good-luck competing with the new portable HD Radio receiver.
