Nielsen: Millennials Listen to Radio

Millennials that make up Generation Y are some of radio’s most steady listeners, according to Nielsen.

The teens and twenty-somethings are connected, and have more ways to consume content “than any previous generation,” according to the audience research firm in its report “Audio Today.”

More than 65 million Millennials (age 18–34) tune in to radio every week, spending more than 11 hours each week with the medium, says Nielsen. Of that 65 million, 52% are male and 48% are female.

As they move into the workforce, middays is when most of their listening occurs. Afternoon drive (weekdays 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.) is the most popular time of day for millennial listening, says Nielsen.

Well, they're listening to FM. The only reason for them to listen to AM would be to hear what boring one-sided political tirade Grandpa will be repeating at the dinner table.
