Radio World reader Curt Holsopple, K9CH, asks, “How many of us started this way?” He explains that this is his younger self at the helm of WEHS — Everett High School, Lansing, Mich. “WEHS wasn’t even a campus carrier current station. It was just an audio feed before homeroom through the Everett High School PA system. This shot is our control room in 1968 — a Dukane PA system mixer, consumer turntables, and a four-track machine with hand-wound tapes used as a cart machine. We tried to live up to broadcast standards, thanks to much mentoring from nearby WILS(AM) 1320 in Lansing.” (The image has been modified to adjust for some distortion in the original.)
