Ravenna Signs Dimetis and Qbit

ALC NetworX, developer of the Ravenna IP media network technology, announced two more signatories for the Ravenna technology: German companies Dimetis and Qbit.

Dimetis is a specialist in IP media, information and control platforms and networks used by broadcasters, notably its BOSS environment. CEO Joachim Kniesel said the link from its flagship products to the Ravenna technology “is of crucial importance for our business.” He said Ravenna provides a solution for real-time distribution of audio and other media content in IP-based network environments.

Qbit is a manufacturer of IP codecs, transcoders and gateways. Qbit CEOMichael Bläsi said: “For our ACIP2/EBU Tech 3326-compatible multichannel IP audio codec Q560, Qbit was looking for additional, network-based connectivity, supplementary to the existing analog and AES3 paths.” He noted that Ravenna is based on “freely available open standards, which is mandatory for us.”
