WAWZ(FM) and singer Natalie Grant know how to keep it local. Joining with the Gateway Church of Christ Disaster Relief Team, they held a free benefit concert at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, N.J. for victims of the Sandy storm in the Union Beach, N.J. area.

A release says that “In attendance were families directly affected by the storm — including many who are still homeless almost one year later.”

The concert was broadcast live on WAWZ, AKA Star 99.1FM, and will be rebroadcast on Oct. 29, the one year anniversary of the storm’s arrival.

Last week Grant released a new album, entitled “Hurricane.” It is available at the station’s website. Proceeds benefit the church’s disaster relief team.
