Savage Starts on Oct. 23

Michael Savage, never far from controversy (and loving it), is heading to Cumulus Media Networks.

Starting next week, Oct. 23 to be specific, “The Savage Nation” will air weekdays 9 p.m.–midnight Eastern time.

Cumulus, which already has the likes of Mike Huckabee and Geraldo Rivera in its talk stable, notes in a release that Savage has had great success in pursuing Internet and social media audiences. Savage recently left Talk Radio Network after a lengthy legal battle, according to news accounts.

Cumulus co-COO John Dickey called the acquisition “a milestone.” In his own typical fashion, Savage said, “This is the biggest move of my radio career and I look forward to reaching many millions of new listeners on their flamethrower signals.”

At least one source, Talk Stream Live, recently listed “The Savage Nation” as the top talk show on the Internet in the third quarter, ahead of Rush Limbaugh.

Savage famously was barred in 2009 from entering the United Kingdom for “seeking to provoke others to serious criminal acts and fostering hatred,” a decision he has called unfair.
