Slacker Windows 8

Earlier this week, San Diego-based personalized radio service Slacker, which debuted at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin in 2007 has released a Slacker Radio App for Windows Phone 8.

According to the company, the app gives users access to 200 curated music stations, as well as detailed artist biographies, in-depth album reviews and song lyrics that can be shared and customized. Slacker is available in free and subscription models.

In a press release, Slacker Inc. claimed to have a music library “10 times larger than Pandora’s catalog,” including “personalized ESPN Radio, ABC News and comedy.”

One station featured on the app, which the company highlighted in its statement, is one that focuses on the “musical legacy of New York City,” which can be found under the “specialty” tab.
