Smart Radio Executes Successful Practice Test

Smart Radio has successfully passed the testing phase and can now be implemented.

Smart Radio combines FM and Internet in one unit based on the RadioDNS standard, so that the receiver can collect additional information, graphics and pictures on the screen parallel to the usual FM radio program. Interactive elements are expected in the future. SmartRadio is compatible with FM, digital and Web radio.

The test results give private radio stations an opportunity to utilize the Smart Radio technology, and Hans Jürgen Kratz, CEO of Antenne Thüringia, says the preparations for deployment are underway. Hit Radio FFH, planet radio, harmony.fm, LandesWelle Thüringen, RTL 104.6, Spree Radio, Radio Regenbogen and other private radios are heading the technical preparations.

Antenne Niedersachsen, in cooperation with the automotive industry released initial findings on the enhancement of the signal, which provide personalized content on demand.

Germany’s Verband Privater Rundfunk und Telemedien (the Association of Commercial Broadcasters and Audiovisual Services) released Smart Radio as part of the media day in Munich in 2013, when the field tests were publicly announced.
