Sonifex Adds to Silence Monitor

Broadcast equipment maker Sonifex has modified its Redbox RB-SD1 silence detector by adding an Ethernet port and a USB port.

With Ethernet, the RB-SD1IP becomes networkable. That allows for remote operation and provides for security by locking out front-panel controls (especially those at remote locations). The remote GUI also provides more detailed controls.

The USB port allows for firmware update and silence message playout material storage.

Sonifex Managing Director Marcus Brooke said the company had received requests from customers for remote Ethernet control. “It seemed a natural progression to add in Ethernet and USB ports to add some excellent new functionality.”
