Broadcast equipment salesman and engineer Steve Schott died Thursday evening. He was 65.

He was South Central U.S. regional sales manager for Continental Electronics, based in Glen Rose, Texas; he also worked in the past for Harris, Collins and Broadcast Electronics. According to colleague David Hultsman, Schott also had worked in radio on both sides of the microphone, from announcer to chief engineer; his first radio job was in Rocky Ford, Colo.

Continental’s Mike Troje said Schott died of what was believed to be a heart attack. “This is a real shock to all of us here at Continental as well as his many other friends in the business,” Troje told Radio World. Hultsman called Schott “a fine gentleman, a good friend and it’s a terrible loss.”

Information about services was not immediately available; RW will post them here as we receive them.
