Report-It Live is an iPhone application from Tieline for turning an iPhone into an IP audio codec for newsgathering.

The manufacturer says owners of Tieline IP audio codecs can use an iPhone as a portable, remote broadcast reporting tool for capturing and transmitting live audio to their codecs in the studio via 3G cellular wireless or Wi-Fi.

According to the company's Anthony Sizer in the announcement, "The Report-IT Live app enables live two-way reporting with the studio by sending low-delay bidirectional FM quality audio."

Tieline will offer an optional hardware dock that enables professional mics and headphones to interface with the iPhone for better quality audio. It said the operator can use the iPhone's mic and headphone with app installed or insert the iPhone into the dock to connect pro headphones and microphones and control and monitor levels.

"With the Report-IT Live software app you can also report live and record the interview on the iPhone at the same time, to keep a copy of your live report. You can even report live and play grabs from any recorded interview while you're on the air. You can also conduct an interview offline and store the report for forwarding later. Audio files can be forwarded live to a Tieline codec in the studio or uploaded via FTP with no codec required in the studio."

Report-IT Live will connect to Tieline G3 and G5 series and Bridge-IT IP codecs. The company has posted a video with details.

This little setup is about to totally change the way most radio remotes are done. Once ATT finally gets around to adding 3G to their smaller markets, look for a lot of smaller market stations to send their sports guys out to do high school sports with one of these things. Car dealer remotes with this kind of set up would be just amazing.
