NAB Loses a Family Member, David Dziedzic

He was a guiding force in the annual spring show.

I’m thinking today of the family and colleagues of David Dziedzic.

You may not have known Dziedzic (“DEET-zik”) personally. But if you attended the spring NAB Show, as so many thousands of people have, chances are that your experience was shaped by his work.

Dziedzic, NAB’s senior vice president of business development, died over the weekend at age 49. A funeral service is planned for Wednesday in Vienna, Va.

Those who knew him well were aware he’d been very sick with brain cancer. He died at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md.

The association issued a statement from Chris Brown, executive vice president, conventions and business operations: “The NAB family has lost a great friend. For nearly 15 years, David Dziedzic was central to the success of the NAB Show and helped make it one of the top trade show events in the world.”

His was a familiar, constant presence not only at the industry’s biggest trade show but in other roles at NAB over the years.

I know his friends are mourning him today, sorrowing at such his early passing and their painful loss. He and they are in our thoughts.
