96FM in Perth Refits With Axia

Three studios fitted with Axia Element consoles

Fairfax Media station 96FM in Perth, Western Australia, recently installed an Axia AoIP system as part of a comprehensive rebuild of its studios.

Three studios were outfitted with Axia Element 2.0 consoles and studio engines, along with associated audio nodes and accessory software. Sale and installation were performed by AVC Group in Sydney, New South Wales, the Axia distributor in Australia.

Greg Hateley, chief engineer for 96FM and 6PR in Perth, chose an array of Axia, Omnia and Telos equipment for the project.

In addition to the Axia Elements and audio notes, an Omnia.11 audio processor was chosen for the on-air sound and Omnia.8x processors for the Web audio streams. A Telos Systems VX multistudio VoIP broadcast phone system is used for listener calls, which an Axia IP Intercom system was chosen for communication throughout the facility.

All these products have Livewire capabilities and connect to the studio network with just a single CAT5 cable.
