BBG May Move on CEO at Year-End Meeting

Agenda contains reform ideas and report on Burma

The Broadcasting Board of Governors will hold its final regular public meeting of the year at 1 p.m. Dec. 14 at BBG headquarters in Washington.

The meeting will take place in Room 3321 of the Cohen Building, 330 Independence Ave. SW, Washington, and is open to the public as seating allows.

To attend the meeting in person, the public must register here by noon on Dec. 13. The meeting will also be streamed live and on-demand on the BBG’s website.

On the agenda, along with the usual business, the board will look at recommendations from the Governance Committee on the establishment of a CEO to oversee U.S. international broadcasting. It will also receive a report regarding a recent official trip to Burma, during which an agency-brokered agreement by which the satellite broadcaster SkyNet will carry BBG content, starting with a new VOA Asia TV channel.

In addition there will be two resolutions honoring employees for their service and recognition of the anniversaries of agency language services.
