BBG Teams with SoundCloud

Says app will help manage multiple languages more easily

On May 1, the Broadcasting Board of Governors announced a new strategic partnership with audio distribution platform SoundCloud, which will make it easier for the organization to centrally manage multiple language profiles, through automated feeds or manual uploads, according to a BBG press release.

More than 40 of the languages used by the five broadcasters of the BBG, from Khmer to Kurdish, will be available through the platform. Each of the broadcasters has multiple accounts based on the language services it provides, and there is flexibility to add more accounts based on user demand, the release said.

According to the organization, this move should expand BBG’s online audience by introducing its radio broadcasts to a new, widely available mobile platform, and to content sharing through social media, adding hundreds of hours of audio programming.

Users can find BBG content by searching SoundCloud by program or broadcaster’s name. Listeners connect directly on the SoundCloud waveform with other users with similar interests, and can upload BBG content to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Pinterest via SoundCloud’s widget.
