FCC Regulatory Fees Due Sept. 20

Increase is capped at 7.5% this year; website is active

Broadcast regulatory fees are due to the FCC by Sept. 20. Federal Register publication triggered the exact date.

The commission site where broadcasters can look up what they owe for each of their stations is now live.

The fee increase is capped at 7.5% this year. Radio station rates range from $645 for an AM Class B serving a population of 25,000 or less to $12,025 for FM Classes B, C, C0, C1 and C2, serving a population of more than three million.

The commission is going “paperless,” and will no longer mail out the initial assessments, nor accept checks. Instead, licensees need to submit payments electronically. Those who pay late face a 25% penalty.
