FCC Sets AM Auction

Twenty-two CPs sought by competing applicants who filed in 2003

The FCC has set the next AM auction for May 6.

Auction 84 is open only to entities vying for a total of 22 construction permits. The auction is to resolve pending groups of applications filed in 2003 that are competing for the same frequency.

The highest minimum opening bid has been set by the commission at $25,000 for a CP on 1500 kHz in Culver City, Calif. Two applicants, the Levine/Schwab Partnership and Royce International Broadcasting Company, want this frequency.

Seven entities are vying for a CP on 1370 kHz in Colorado Springs, Colo. — the most applicants for any one CP.

The agency is asking for public comments on the tentative procedures for this auction. Comments to AU Docket 13-268 are due Dec. 6 and replies on Dec. 20.
