FCC Upholds $10,000 Pirate Fine

Penalty for operation of unlicensed station on 89.5 MHz in Oakland Park, Fla.

A previous $10,000 fine against Romayne Davis for operating a pirate station has progressed to a forfeiture.

The commission said in its decision Davis operated an unauthorized station on 89.5 MHz in Oakland Park, Fla.

In April, the Enforcement Bureau issued a Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture to Davis.

Now, the commission says he hasn’t responded, so it’s affirmed the penalty, which he must pay within 30 days. If he doesn’t, the case may be turned over to the Justice Department for collection.
