Grooveshark Debuts Streaming Tool
International music streaming service Grooveshark introduces Broadcast, a free tool enabling users to create and share live-streaming online radio programs.
Music fans and radio personalities can now host listening sessions for friends, coworkers and listeners worldwide. Grooveshark says Broadcast democratizes Internet radio: users can go on the air, create a playlist and record their voice for a global audience.
Real-time chat, statistics, music suggestions and voting for preferred requests are included. Facebook and Twitter links enable broadcasters and listeners to invite friends to participate in a shared listening experience.
“The world now has an audio voice to complement YouTube’s video voice and Twitter’s microblogging voice,” said Grooveshark CEO and Co-founder Sam Tarantino. “If the 20th century was characterized by terrestrial radio DJs, the 21st century will be characterized by viral radio DJs and homegrown Web personalities.”
Broadcast goes live on Wednesday, April 24. For a sneak peek, visit the preview.
