Harbach Discontinues Peter Dahl Line

Weinberg hopes to find a buyer

The owner of the Peter W. Dahl transformer line says it can’t afford to keep that business going.

Jeff Weinberg of Harbach Electronics acquired the Dahl line five years ago but now states on his website that Harbach will discontinue it effective Feb. 14, “with great sadness and regret.”

“I have tried to give it a go, but with the current state of the economy and raw material and labor costs, I can no longer afford to produce and sell the Peter W. Dahl line of transformer and magnetics,” he wrote. “I am in negotiations with other manufacturers to take over the product line, but nothing has been decided.”

He emphasized that the regular line of Harbach Electronics kits and parts “is alive and well and will have new offerings in the near future.”

Peter Dahl died in 2011. His custom-wound transformers were particularly popular among ham operators, though radio and TV stations were also clients.
