Harris Broadcast Communications is helping audiences in the Middle East enjoy Gulf News Broadcasting’s, recently-launched Arabic and Hindi radio stations courtesy of the company’s Flexiva air-cooled FM transmitters.
The new GNB radio stations, which are a division of Gulf News Media, launched in cooperation with the UAQ Broadcasting Network, are Hayat 95.6(FM) and Josh 97.8(FM). The stations join GNB’s existing English-language FM stations, Radio 1 and Radio 2, as well as the Hindi channel Hum.
“The Flexiva transmitter from Harris is proven to deliver a highly-reliable and stable performance, and will help us reduce our overall operational costs,” said Digby Taylor, project manager, Gulf News Broadcasting. He added that due to the low power consumption of the Flexiva and small size it offers savings and has “a simplified installation process and easier on-going maintenance.”
This provides a transmission platform to audiences throughout the United Arab Emirates. GNB also selected the 20 kW models to ensure the largest possible coverage area for new and existing listeners.
The Flexiva design also provides software-defined exciter technology that offers GNB an upgrade to digital radio standards.
Transmitted from the UAQ Broadcasting Network station in the U.A.E., both new stations are currently on air and entertaining audiences across the region. Josh FM is the U.A.E.’s newest Bollywood music station, and Hayat plays a mix of modern Arabic music, targeting 18- to 35-year olds.
