Incomplete Public Inspection Files Trip Up Western Slope

FCC proposes $25,000 fine for missing issues/program lists for two Colorado stations

The FCC proposed a $25,000 fine for Western Slope Communications for failing to maintain a complete public inspection file at two Colorado stations.

Western Slope is the licensee for KRGS(AM) in Rifle and KRVG(FM) in Glenwood Springs, Colo.

During an inspection last August, an agent from the Denver office of the Enforcement Bureau noticed several missing issues/program lists for both stations. The licensee found the documents at a co-owned station in Grand Junction.

Western Slope told the FCC the file misplacement was inadvertent and the documents are back at their correct studios now. Both stations have renewal applications pending at the agency.

The broadcaster has 30 days to appeal or pay the proposed fine.
