Jim Berk Takes the Helm at PodcastOne

He has been named CEO of the ad-supported podcast network

PodcastOne has added a new veteran media exec to its team headed by Executive Chairman and founder Norm Pattiz. Jim Berk has been named CEO and board member of the advertiser-supported podcast network, which is pushing to expand through “acquisitions, investments and content development,” including an investment from Hubbard Broadcasting, according to the release.

“We have created an unmatched footprint in the podcast space and now are building a more robust executive team to allow PodcastOne to take full advantage of our organic growth and strategic opportunities,” said Pattiz. “Jim has done tremendous work in transitioning companies to their next stage of growth, and with him joining the PodcastOne leadership team, our possibilities are endless.”

Most recently, Berk served as the CEO of global entertainment company Participant Media, notable for its involvement with marquee films inclduing “The Kite Runner,” “The Help,” “Food Inc.,” “Lincoln,” “Beasts of No Nation,” “Spotlight” and numerous other big name pictures. During his nine-year tenure, the company also launched digital hub TakePart, the Pivot cable network and Participant PanAmerica.

His resume also includes stints as chairman and CEO of Gryphon Colleges Corp.; president/ CEO/ board director for Fairfield Communities, Inc.; president/CEO of Hard Rock Cafe International, Inc.; founding executive director of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Foundation (the Grammy Foundation); and principal of the Hamilton High Schools Complex.

Already based in Los Angeles, where PodcastOne is headquartered, Berk currently serves as chair of the executive board of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television and is on the board of the USC Rossier School of Education and the executive committee of the Executive Branch of the The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Berk is a voting member of the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
