MAD/DigiMedia Sues More Radio Groups

FHH says new cases virtually the same as previous cases against seven other radio owners

Mission Abstract Data, now doing business as DigiMedia has sued four more radio groups, claiming patent infringement.

The new claims are essentially the same as the ones filed previously against seven radio groups, according to Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth.

We’ve reported the lawsuits concern claims that stations that have certain digital automation storage and playback systems are infringing on the MAD/DigiMedia patents.

There is a court hearing on the other patent case scheduled for March 25.

FHH raises the question of why these new suits have been filed, noting they’re all against radio groups that have stations in small cities and towns in East Texas.

Attorneys for FHH said last week during a webinar they know of only one or two radio groups that have actually signed the license agreements with the company.
