Nissan Adds HD Radio Technology

Digital radio technology now available from 35 auto brands

The first Nissan to offer AM and FM HD Radio technology will be the 2015 Murano.

The model is expected to arrive at dealerships in late 2014, Nissan announced at the New York Auto Show.

Hyundai, Kia, Dodge, Jeep, Acura, and Subaru all announced new or refreshed vehicles with HD Radio technology at the show, according to iBiquity Digital.

The news means that now 35 automakers have now announced plans to incorporate HD Radio technology in 185+ models by year-end; more than 90 of those models feature HD Radio receivers as standard equipment. Five automakers use HD Radio technology to deliver traffic & data information to their vehicles.

Nissan characterizes the Murano as a midsize crossover vehicle with a “premium” interior and “purposeful” technology. The car includes Nissan’s Advanced Drive-Assist Display, featuring a 7-inch high-resolution color screen.

Available audio systems include an advanced Bose design with 11 speakers (including dual subwoofers), HD Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio (with a required subscription). Also offered are NissanConnect with navigation and mobile apps.
