Pandora Hires D.C. Lobbying Firm

Internet audio service immersed in revamping music royalty rate-setting

The Pandora Internet audio service has decided to beef-up its political lobbying force.

Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Tim Westergren has been making the rounds on Capitol Hill to garner support for a measure that would level the music royalty playing field for digital radio services.

Now, however, Pandora has hired Washington lobbying firm Constantine Cannon, reports The Legal Times, which is basing its account on paperwork filed with Congress.

Constantine partner Seth Greenstein, who focuses on intellectual property litigation and licensing issues, is handling the work, according to the account.

Pandora spent some $90,000 on federal lobbying during the first half of 2012, with the bulk going to TwinLogic Strategies. The rest went to Wheat Government Relations; that contract ended in January, reports the Times.
