SonicAi Develops Skills for “the New Radios for the Home”

New company from jācapps and Amplifi Media focuses on the creation of voice command solutions for radio and podcasting

BINGHAM FARMS At-home radio listening may be in decline, but smart devices are on the rise. In fact, jacapps Fred Jacobsdescribed the Amazon Echo and Google Home as the new radios for the home in a press release announcing his latest venture.

With that in mind,Jacobs,Amplifi Medias Steve Goldstein and Lee Davis have teamed up to create a company focusing on the creation of voice command solutions for the radio and podcasting industries, according to an announcement.

Dubbed SonicAi, the company will develop skills for Amazon Echo and Google Home smart devices. According to Jacobs Medias pending Techsurvey13, 11% of homes already have one of these devices. On the other hand, research has shown that in-home radio listening is in decline.

Amplifi Media and Davis will focus on sales, marketing and skills architecture. The jacapps mobile app developer team will handle product development and customer service.

We have developed solutions to make it easy for consumers to find and access a brands audio content, said Goldstein. We also think audio content creators will be more successful with enhanced choices beyond basic streams. We call these smart skills, and we plan to have a full suite of offerings.

Davis has held senior leadership positions with some of the top media companies in the United States, including CBS and Univision. Davis has run radio brands including WFAN(AM/FM), WINS(AM) and Univision Radio.
