VPR Chooses GatesAir for Digital Project

Flexiva 10 kW transmitter is running 6 kW at –14 dBc

From the Radio World Who’s Buying What page:

Vermont Public Radio has a new HD Radio transmission infrastructure from GatesAir at WOXM(FM) in Middlebury. The project included a GatesAir Flexiva transmitter to support higher HD Radio and analog power levels.

The manufacturer said the system transports on-air program audio and program-associated data over IP to the site, where a Flexiva 10 kW transmitter is running 6 kW at –14 dB power injection levels for HD Radio. GatesAir said this approach is helping VPR deliver programming to a wider audience.

Vermont Public Radio installed the GatesAir HDE-200 Program Exporter at the transmitter site with a direct connection to its GatesAir Flexiva exciter. “At the studio, the GatesAir HDI-200 Importer prepares HD Radio program audio and data for delivery over IP to the transmitter site, alongside uncompressed audio for the FM broadcast,” the manufacturer stated.

Joe Tymecki is director of engineering for VPR.
