VPR Chooses GatesAir for Digital Project
From the Radio World Who’s Buying What
Vermont Public Radio has a new HD Radio transmission
infrastructure from GatesAir at WOXM(FM) in Middlebury. The project included a GatesAir Flexiva transmitter
to support higher HD Radio and analog power levels.
The manufacturer said the system transports on-air program audio and program-associated
data over IP to the site, where a Flexiva 10 kW transmitter is running 6 kW at
–14 dB power injection levels for HD Radio. GatesAir said this approach is helping
VPR deliver programming to a wider audience.
Public Radio installed the GatesAir HDE-200 Program Exporter at the transmitter
site with a direct connection to its GatesAir Flexiva exciter. “At the
studio, the GatesAir HDI-200 Importer prepares HD Radio program audio and data
for delivery over IP to the transmitter site, alongside uncompressed audio for
the FM broadcast,” the manufacturer stated.
