In the wake of Hurricane Sandy’s destruction, William O’Shaughnessy, chairman of The Broadcasters Foundation of America’s Guardian fund, reminds supporters of the needs of less-fortunate broadcasters and their families during this holiday season.

“We’re not doubting for a moment the worthiness of the many solicitations you receive from other charities,” O’Shaughnessy said in a letter to broadcast professionals about the broadcast industry’s 501 ((c))3 registered public charity.

The organization has set up the Guardian Fund with just those needs in mind, enabling emergency assistance to be given to victims of natural disasters, as well as retirees and others experiencing financial difficulties.

Supporters of the Guardian Fund include: Caroline Beasley, Michael Bloomberg, Casey Kasem, Walter Sabo, Paul McLane, Jeff Smulyan and George Stephanopoulos.

Individual and corporate donations are tax deductible and can be made out to Guardian Fund of the Broadcasters Foundation of America. Checks should be sent to:
