Germany’s Second National DAB+ Multiplex Approved

New multiplex is scheduled to begin broadcasting by the middle of 2017

The President of the German states has approved the allocation of frequencies for the country’s second national DAB+ multiplex.

The tender process for the new multiplex began recently and is expected to be completed by April 2017. According to Radio Woche, the multiplex is currently eyeing a mid-2017 launch date.

The second national DAB+ multiplex, which was initially requested back in September, will aim to cover nationwide private radio programs. A regionalization of programs or a division of the multiplex is not expected to be possible.
